I = Καινεύς, orig. a girl , named Caenis, Ov. M. 12, 189; 12, 195; 12, 201; 12, 470 sq., the daughter of Elatus , afterwards changed by Neptune into a boy , he was subsequently present at the Calydonian hunt and at the contest of the Centaurs and Lapithae, and finally was metamorphosed into a bird.
