the daughter of Epopeus, king of Lesbos, who unknowingly had intercourse with her father: when she discovered it, she fled in despair to the woods, where she was changed by Minerva into a night-owl , Ov. M. 2, 591; cf. Serv. ad Verg. G. 1, 403; Hyg. Fab. 204 and 253.
