Pausĭlȳpum, i, n., = Παυσίλυπον,

a mountain between Naples and Puteoli , which projects into the sea , now Hill of Posilipo , Plin. 3, 6, 12, § 82; 9, 53, 78, § 167. There Vedius Pollio had a villa , which he left to Augustus , and which was afterwards possessed by the emperor Trajan , Inscr. Fabr. p. 199, n. 486.
