to draw near the walls , to besiege , invest : oppidum. Plaut. Ps. 1, 3, 150 (but not id. ib. 2, 1, 11; cf. Ritschl ad h. l.; and id. Cist. 2, 2, 5, for admoenivi, admovi is a more correct reading; v. admoveo).
