a calling off from a thing, a diverting of the attention , diversion , interruption (very rare): avocatio a cogitandā molestiā, * Cic. Tusc. 3, 15, 33: In his, quae me sine avocatione circumstrepunt, etc., Sen. Ep. 56, 4.
