menaces, threats , with a play upon the double meaning of minae; v. 1. mina: at ego oves et lanam et alia multa quae poscet dabo. Meliust te minis certare mecum quam minaciis, Plaut. Truc. 5, 55 sq. (but Plaut. Rud. 3, 5, 16; id. Capt. 4, 2, 22, the true reading is minae).
