prŏpylaeum (-laeon), or prŏpy-lon, i, n., = προπύλαιον,

a gateway , entrance; esp. (in plur.) of the celebrated entrance to the temple of Pallas in the citadel of Athens, the Propylaeum : Phalereus Demetrius Periclem vituperat, quod tantam pecuniam in praeclara illa propylaea conjecerit, Cic.
