that which is cut off , a paring , shaving , chip , bit (very rare): coronariorum, a scale struck off by the hammer , Plin. 34, 11, 26, § 111: duo recisamenta totius pyramidis, Auct. Palimps. ap. Maii praef. ad Cic. Rep. p. XL. (p. LVIIII. ext. Mos.).
