I In gen., to write often : in palmarum foliis primo scriptitatum est, Plin. 13, 11, 21, § 69. —

II In partic., to write , compose , etc. (usually with accessory notion of writing at one's own will, not officially or professionally; cf. Ellendt ad Cic. de Or. 2, p. 220; class.): et haec et si quid aliud ad me scribas velim vel potius scriptites, Cic. Att. 7, 12, 6: M. Bibulus scriptitavit accurate, wrote , composed , id.
