to burn incense , offer incense (eccl. Lat.), Aug. Ep. 87, 2.—Hence, subst.: tūrĭfĭcātus ( thūr- ), i, m., one that offers incense (to the gods), a term applied to those Christians who sacrificed to the heathen gods in time of persecution, Cyprian. Ep. 55.
