a little thorn- or brier - bush : illa ex vepreculis extracta nitedula, Cic. Sest. 33, 72.—Prov.: vipera est in vepreculā, there's a viper in the bush , of a hidden danger, Pompon. ap. Non. 231, 13 (Com. Rel. v. 130 Rib.; cf.: latet anguis in herba).
