1863. S. Butler, `First Year in Canterbury Settlement,' p. 58:

«There was a kind of dusky, brownish-green parrot too, whichthe scientific call a Nestor. What they mean by this name Iknow not. To the unscientific it is a rather dirty-lookingbird, with some bright red feathers under its wings. It isvery tame, sits still to be petted, and screams like a parrot.»
