Damalis

Dictionary of Greek and Roman Geography

DA´MALIS(Δάμαλις), seems to be the point near Chrysopolis [CHRYSOPOLIS] named Bus or Bous (Βοῦς) by Polybius (Plb. 4.43). Here, according to the legend, Io landed when she crossed the strait. It was also called Damalis, or the heifer, and Arrian, quoted by Eustathius ( ad Dionys. Per. 140) has a story about it.
