Tragurium

TRAGU´RIUM(Τραγούριον, Strab., Ptol.; Τραγύριον, Polyb.), an important town of Dalmatia, situated upon an island, which was separated from the mainland by an artificial canal. According to the Antonine Itinerary, it was distant 6 miles from Praetorium and 13 from Salonae. Pliny calls it Tragurium civium Romanorum,and says that it was celebrated for its marble.
