JOVIS PROMONTORIUM(Δίος ἄκρα, Ptol. 7.4.4), a promontory mentioned by Ptolemy, at the S. end of the island of Taprobane ( Ceylon). Its exact position cannot be identified, but it must have been in the neighbourhood of the present Point du Galle, if it be not the same.
