ZINGIS PROMONTORIUM(ΖίγγιςPtol. 1.17.9, 4.7.11), probably the Modern Maroe, was a headland on the eastern coast of Africa about lat. 10° N. It was conspicuous from its forked head and its elevation above a level shore of nearly 400 miles in extent.
