STRYMO´NICUS SINUS(Στρυμονικὸς κόλπος, Strab. 7. p. 330), a bay lying between Macedonia and Thrace, on the E. side of the peninsula of Chalcidice (Ptol. 3.13.9). It derived its name from the river Strymon, which fell into it. Now the gulf of Rendina.
